Book and TV suggestions?

I love a good, addicting, enthralling, book series or TV series. And right now, I am completely out of them. I've reread some old favorites recently (Harry Potter, Hunger Games, Anne of Green Gables, most of Jane Austen's works, and a few others), and I need some more ideas! Same with TV series! I love serial TV that can be watched on iTunes or Netflix. Does anyone have any good recommendations for an old series that is just too good to forget? (For instance, Lost, Eureka, Battlestar Galactica, Alias, Northern Exposure, the Good Wife, etc. The kind that make you want to keep watching a whole season in one sitting!) I'm open to suggestions!

  1. Sue J.2:42 PM

McLeod's Daughters. It's a tv series (8 seasons) from Australia. I know they have it on Netflix. It's AWESOME!!! I recommend it to everyone I know.

  2. Anonymous8:29 PM

TV series: Downton Abbey; Mad Men; Damages
Books: Water for Elephants, The Lacuna

  3. I love MI:5 - all nine seasons are on netflix. It's a British series that is a lot like Alias - but it has the hot guys from the Jane Austen dramas - it's a perfect mix! :)

  4. Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Netflix saved me during my housebound days due to snow. And other days after that. Also, check out Eureka and The IT Crowd.

  5. Er, Angel. Not Netflix.

  6. Sue- Thanks for the MacLeod's Daughters suggestion. Netflix has been pushing that one on me for a while now, but I was reluctant to try it. Thanks to your suggestion, I will give it a spin.

Jinxie- I may have to resign my sci fi geek and fantasy membership for admitting this. But I've never cared much for Buffy. Maybe I will try it out again.

  7. Try Pysch. Excellent Show. hilarious! It takes until the second season before it really hits its stride...but highly recommended.
